Appointment of High School Principal
The Mammoth Unified School District governing Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Gabe Solorio as the new high school principal. Mr. Solorio has been the Mammoth Middle School Principal for the past four years. Prior to that he was an assistant principal at Pioneer Valley High School in Santa Maria, California and a teacher at Templeton High School in Templeton, California.
The Board felt, after a careful review of Mr. Solorio’s performance as middle school principal and his prior experience as a high school administrator, that he could provide the leadership necessary for the high school. Mr. Solorio has demonstrated a very professional and positive relationship with the staff, students and parents at Mammoth Middle School. He has earned the trust of the entire Mammoth Unified staff and the community of Mammoth Lakes. These positive relationships have helped to build morale and create a positive educational learning environment for all students.
Mr. Solorio and retiring high school principal, Mr. Mike Agnitch, have worked together successfully in the past on many district programs. They will now join in preparing for the transition at Mammoth High School. The district extends a warm congratulations to Mr. Agnitch upon his retirement and we welcome Mr. Solorio to his new assignment at Mammoth High School. Mr. Solorio will continue at Mammoth Middle School for the remainder of this school year as he makes plans for his transition to Mammoth High School in June.

Community
meetings scheduled for March 22, 2010
The Mammoth
Unified School
District governing Board is conducting a
national search for a new district Superintendent. The search firm hired to
assist the Board, Leadership Associates, will hold a series of meetings on
March 22, 2010 to gather public input to assist in the Superintendent search
process. Specifically, community members will be asked to discuss the
characteristics and qualities they want in Mammoth Unified
School District’s
next Superintendent.
These important meetings will provide the Board with
valuable information they will use in recruiting candidates for the next leader
for Mammoth Unified School District.
Meetings will be held with representatives of
community associations, organizations, employees, and former employees of
Mammoth Unified, with school leaders, and the district’s senior leadership
team.
Leadership Associates, the consulting firm hired to
conduct a nationwide search to replace the former Mammoth Unified
Superintendent Frank Romero, will facilitate the meetings.
These meetings represent a very important phase of
the Superintendent recruitment process. “We want to hear from all of our
constituents: families, employees, community groups and associations, and
community members. What they tell us
through this process will guide us as we identify those characteristics and
qualities we want in the individual who will lead Mammoth Unified School District.”
said Gloria Vasquez, President of the Mammoth Unified School District Board of
Education.
At each meeting, Leadership Associates will provide
an overview of the recruitment process and ask attendees for their opinion’s
about the important qualities, skills, and background for the next
Superintendent. The Board will use the information to finalize a Superintendent
profile and recruitment materials for the position. Individuals and/or groups
who cannot attend the meetings can also share their comments with Leadership
Associates through email at leadershipassociates@cox.net or by Fax at 949-461-9119.
