NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Facilities Advisory (7-11) Committee of the Mammoth Unified School District will be holding a public hearing at its regularly scheduled meeting on June 24, 2026 at 12:30 P.M. or as reasonably facilitated per the agenda thereafter. The meeting will take place at the District Office located at 461 Sierra Park Road, Mammoth Lakes, CA 93546.

The hearing is provided for community input to the Committee on acceptable uses of space and real property, including the sale or lease of surplus real property.

Those wishing to comment may appear in person at the public forum and provide a comment card. Accommodations will be made for any person so requiring. Please see the posted meeting agenda for further details.

What is the purpose of the Committee?

What qualifications do I need to be a member of the Committee?

The law requires a district’s board to approve a Committee comprised of no fewer than 7 and no more than 11 members. The Code also encourages districts to create a Committee representative of the ethnic, age group and socioeconomic composition of the district. The Committee should include at least one representative from each of the following groups:

(a) the business community (store owners, managers, supervisors);

(b) landowners and renters (with priority to neighborhood associations);

(c) teachers;

(d) school administrators;

(e) parents of students in the district; and

(f) persons with specialized knowledge in such things as construction, environmental impact, legal contracts, building codes and zoning and land use restrictions applicable in the city and county where the property is located.

What are the dates, times, and locations of the Committee meetings?

Meetings will be scheduled based on member availability and preferences and are expected to occur between March 23, 2026, and May 8, 2026, with an intended final presentation of the Committee report to the Board of Trustees on May 21, 2026.

Meetings will be held in the evening after normal working/business hours and will be held at the Mammoth High School Multi-purpose Room or another school facility.

MUSD administration will provide sufficient advance notice to the Committee members regarding the date, time, and location of each scheduled meeting.

How many meetings will there be?

Once selected, the Committee will attend a series of public meetings with the ultimate goal of drafting a report to the District’s Board of Trustees with recommendations. We tentatively expect to hold four (4) meetings, with one meeting occurring approximately every other week.

The four meetings will consisting of: one organizational meeting; one or two meetings to receive additional data and information and to obtain community input; and one final meeting to solicit/request remaining public input and to finalize a report, including findings and recommendations for uses of the properties, for presentation to the District’s Board of Education.

Do I need to be at every meeting?

Not every member needs to be able to attend every meeting, so long as a quorum of the members can attend each meeting. A “quorum” is the smallest number of members that need to be in attendance for the meeting to take place. That number will be determined after the Committee membership is established. We ask for applicants to make reasonable efforts to attend as many meetings as possible.

MUSD staff and consultants will provide the Committee with information including, but not limited to, facilities introduction, enrollment data, as well as any other available data or other information requested by, or necessary for, the Committee's work. Members are asked to review the agenda and materials in advance of the meetings, but will be asked to do very limited additional work outside of meeting hours. A subset of the Committee may be selected
to present the final report to the Board of Education at a public meeting.
