District English Learner Advisory Committee

What is the District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC)?

Mammoth Unified School District has established a District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC) to provide families of English Learners with an important voice in the planning, development, and evaluation of programs and services for English Learner students.

The DELAC advises and assists the district administrator and the MUSD Board of Education on matters related to English Learner programs and services. In accordance with state requirements, the DELAC has responsibility for advising on the following:

  • English Learner programs and plans: The development or revision of the district’s English Learner Master Plan and relevant school plans, including the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA).

  • District-wide needs assessment: Conducting a district-wide needs assessment on a school-by-school basis to identify the needs of English Learner students and families.

  • Program goals and services: Reviewing and providing input on district goals, objectives, programs, and services for English Learners, aligned with California’s English Learner Roadmap.

  • Family voice and engagement: Providing a forum for families to share perspectives, ask questions, and contribute to ongoing efforts to improve outcomes and opportunities for English Learners across MUSD.

MUSD values the partnership of our English Learner families and welcomes their participation in shaping the programs and supports that serve our students.

Who Can Participate?

Parents and guardians of MUSD English Learners are encouraged to participate in DELAC. Your voice and experience are an important part of ensuring that our English Learner programs meet the needs of our students and families.

DELAC provides an opportunity for families to:

  • Learn more about English Learner programs and services in MUSD

  • Ask questions and share feedback about their student’s experience

  • Provide input on district plans, goals, and services for English Learners

  • Help identify the needs of English Learner students and families

  • Work collaboratively with district staff to support student success

Meeting Information

DELAC meetings will provide opportunities for families to learn about MUSD’s English Learner programs, receive updates, provide input, and discuss the needs of English Learner students across the district.

Meeting Schedule:

  • Meeting #1: Thursday, November 12, 2026: 5:00 - 6:00 PM

  • Meeting #2: TBD

  • Meeting #3: TBD

Location/Format:

Meetings are in-person, given at the District Office of Mammoth Unified School District.

Agendas, presentations, and other DELAC resources will be posted here as they become available.

All parents and guardians of English Learners are welcome and encouraged to participate. Translation and language support will be provided as needed to support meaningful family participation.
