The Now Foundation Fall Update
For any of you that are new to MUSD or don’t know about NOW…the Mammoth Schools NOW Education Foundation was originally established to help guide the district on how best to fund educational programs from charitable donations MUSD received. NOW established a set list of priorities and programs that needed funding, that were most likely to be discontinued due to budget constraints. Nowadays, we continue to support the district via our own yearly donation from fundraising efforts, following the guidelines of updated priorities, as well as continuing to provide important educational, community and parental viewpoints to the district.
Looking back on the last few months it’s hard to believe we have been back to school for over two months already and getting closer to snow season! Here’s what’s happened.
- Jennifer Wildman started her role as superintendent for our school district. Dr. Annie Rinaldi moved from the middle school up to the high school as the principal and Mammoth Middle School welcomed Frankie Alvarado as the new principal.
- In September, the Mammoth Schools Now Education Foundation presented MUSD with a $31,000 check to support Music, Art, STEM, Foreign Language, Flexible Learning and Career/College Exploration for all MUSD students.
- In October Mammoth High School and the NOW Foundation partnered up for the 2nd annual College and Career Fair. The event was a huge success with participation from both 4 year and 2 year colleges as well as trade schools. Our community came out in record numbers to represent their careers and talk to the students about their experiences.
Going forward in 2020 the NOW Foundation hibernates in the winter. When the birds start chirping “cheeseburger” in the spring we ramp up for our GIVE Campaign. This is the only fundraising we do. It’s a critical component to continuing our annual grant to MUSD to enhance our School Spirit Pays income.
- We invite you to attend one of our meetings and learn more about what we do and join in on the conversation. Our meetings are at 8am at the district office and the calendar for 2020 is set for January 29, March 24, May 26 and August 25.
There are so many ways to give back to our amazing community and we all find where our passion and skills take us. Perhaps NOW is right for you! If you have any questions about anything please email me at Dawnlazar@verizon.net or visit mammothschoolsnow.org for more information.
We thank all that have supported NOW with financial donations, having a change catcher at business registers and for being a School Spirit Pays participant. Together we make a huge difference in our schools!
