MUSD Athletics Programs delayed due to health restrictions

The following is some limited information about our Athletics Programs. The superintendent is meeting weekly with the Mono County Public Health Department to determine how to reopen district sports. The health department is providing us with guidelines for a safe reopening plan.  The health department is considering the plans for opening each sport, potentially one at a time as is possible under current health restrictions.
As of 7/1/20, all youth sports are prohibited and athletes may not try out, work out, practice, congregate or compete together. We have been told to expect a delayed start for some sports and the possible cancellation of others. Cross Country was allowed to workout together for a few weeks, and the team was under restrictions for congregating and physical distancing. However, the XC team is no longer allowed to work out together because of the concern for the students and staff under current health restrictions and the increasing numbers of COVID19 cases in California as we head into the 4th of July weekend..
CIF guidelines for reopening youth sports require us to follow the advice of our local public health agency. We will continue to obtain weekly updates for our athletic program until such time as we can either reopen teams safely or announce a cancellation if needed. We know how important the MUSD Athletics program is for our students and families and will be persistent about obtaining up-to-the-minute information on the status of our program. Thank you for your patience and understanding at this difficult time!
