EVERY SCHOOL DAY IS AN INSTRUCTIONAL DAY IN THE MILES PROGRAM!

The MILES program will require DAILY synchronous and asynchronous instruction and assignments using a school-issued iPad and materials. Students must “attend” school virtually and independently every day as follows. LACK OF ATTENDANCE, WORK COMPLETION OR ACADEMIC PROGRESS will be considered a reason for DISENROLLMENT in the Independent Study program:

Elementary Grades TK-5

Daily “LIVE” synchronous instruction every school day (via Zoom)
Daily asynchronous instruction (online learning programs and/or other assignments)
Total number of instructional minutes to equal our regular school program

Note that the Dual Immersion program is not available for MILES program students. Those participating in Distance Learning will be disenrolled from Dual Immersion and will be placed on the waiting list when returning to the regular school program.

Middle School Grades 6-8

Daily “LIVE interaction” every school day (via Zoom)

Once a week additional synchronous instructional time (via Zoom)
Daily asynchronous instruction (online learning programs and/or other assignments)
Total number of instructional minutes to equal our regular school program

High School Grades 9-12

Synchronous instruction at least once a week (via Zoom) OR FLEX program classes  (in person) as designated in the student’s Independent Study Contract
Daily asynchronous instruction (online learning programs and/or other assignments)
Total number of instructional minutes to equal our regular school program

Special Education students must be determined to be eligible for the MILES program per IEP team decision prior to beginning instruction in the MILES program.

NOTE: Students may enter or exit the MILES program during the school year upon written request from a parent. We ask parents to honor the beginnings or endings of grading periods as the best time to transfer into or out of MILES.

MUSD IS PROUD TO OFFER A SUCCESSFUL DISTANCE LEARNING PROGRAM FOR OUR STUDENTS!
