Comprehensive District Safety Plan

The California Education Code (sections 32280-32288) outlines the requirements of all schools operating any kindergarten and any grades 1 to 12, inclusive, to write and develop a school safety plan relevant to the needs and resources of that particular school.
 
As a small district with fewer than 1500 students, MUSD is able to write one Comprehensive Safety Plan for the district that covers all four schools. The Safety Committee is comprised of the three school Principals, one of which is parent of students in the school, the School Resource Officer from Mammoth Lakes Police Department, the Director of Maintenance and Transportation, the Superintendent led a facilitated by Gary Taylor, the Director of MOT.
The committee is comprised of the Principals, the School Resource Officer and other MLPD, representatives from Mammoth Hospital, the Fire Department, Mono County Behavioral Health, staff - teachers and classified, parents and students and Board member. This committee meets three times per year. This group reviews the Comprehensive School Safety Plan, monitors safety initiatives and identifies gaps.
