Government Code Section 65995 and California Education Code Section 17620 allows school districts to levy fees on residential and or commercial/industrial construction projects within a school district’s boundaries. The State Allocation Board (SAB) sets the per-square-foot Level I school impact fees (“Developer Fees”) every two (even) years at its January meeting. MUSD has not increased rates since 2006.
MUSD's Developer Fee Level 1 Rates as of June 2006:
Residential Construction - $2.63/habitable square foot
Commercial/Industrial Construction - $0.42/square foot
Rental Self-Storage Construction - $0.03/square foot
School fees are determined based on the square footage of all new construction and additions on residential and commercial property falling within the Mammoth Unified School District boundaries. Any new additions or construction less than 500 square feet is not subject to a fee; however a a School Certification form is still required.
